RESPONDING TO THE MESSAGE OF CHRISTMAS
Luke 2:16:“So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger.”
As Christmas draws near, I often reflect on the celebrations and sacred moments of past years. From childhood Sunday School lessons to adult faith, two figures consistently stand at the heart of the Christmas story: the shepherds and the wise men. Though worlds apart, they shared one powerful response to the news of Jesus’ birth immediate obedience. When the shepherds heard the angel proclaim that a Savior, Christ the Lord, had been born, they did not hesitate. They rushed to Bethlehem and found exactly what God had promised: Mary, Joseph, and the child lying in a manger. The wise men responded with the same fierce devotion. Guided by a star, they journeyed from the East, searching relentlessly for the newborn King. When they found Him, they fell to their knees in worship and offered their finest treasures gold, frankincense, and myrrh. The Christmas message confronts us with a sobering question: How do we respond to Christ today? Jesus is no longer a baby in a manger He is Lord of our lives. Do we still seek Him daily through prayer, Scripture, and quiet devotion? Or have we grown distant? Christmas calls us to rise, pursue, and worship without delay.
